Agnès Violeau - The edge of the Visible

Nathalie Junod Ponsard’s approach blurs the boundaries between a space and the work she places within it, making them into a single whole consisting of two related entities, each no longer conceivable without the other. The artist uses light, her raw material, like a paintbrush that both covers and reveals space and the forms that occupy it. Light—the intangible source of life and the instrument of visibility—and wavelengths or colours (pharmakon in Greek refers both to the hue that imitates the colour of things, but also a remedy or a philtre) become instruments of passage offering the viewer the keys to a new mode of perception. Invoking the effects produced by the plasticity of colour and its reception, both physical (dazzlement, loss of balance, dizziness, and so on) and mental (thought, meditation, etc.), Nathalie Junod Ponsard’s work reveals her chosen environments via a fleeting homeostasis forged by the movements of the eye and the body.
